What does MOT stand for?+

MOT stands for Ministry of Transport, which was the government department responsible for roads when the MOT was first introduced in 1960.

What is an MOT Checker?+

An MOT checker looks up your vehicle registration with the DVLA and returns the current MOT status and expiry date. Driving without a valid MOT is illegal in the UK.

How long does a vehicle MOT last?+

Typically one year. MOTs can be renewed up to two to three months before they expire, if renewed early, the new MOT runs from the original expiry date, not the renewal date.
